Las Vegas - With the end of the outdoor season right around the corner, UNLV heads to the Triton Invitational in San Diego, looking to get prepared for the upcoming championship.
With schools such as Arizona, Stanford, USC, UCLA, Long Beach State and UC Riverside scheduled to attend the meet, the Rebels will have quality competition to go against.
"This weekend we are focusing on competition strategy for the Mountain West Conference Championships in Fort Worth, Texas.The athletes will need to get into the flow of championship competition mentality and as we get closer to the big meet, it is their opportunity to practice that," says UNLV head coach Yvonne Scott-Williams.
Student-athlete to look for are Monique Humphries in the hammer, Lekeisha Lawson and Lauren Johnson in the 100 meters, Talyah and Kenya Polee in the long jump and also the 4X100 relay team.
"We are looking to improve marks and go into the championship meet with confidence," says Scott-Williams.
On Friday the competition opens with the women's hammer throw at 10 a.m.(PT) Events start at 10 a.m. on Saturday with the men's hammer throw and conclude at 6:25 p.m. with the men's 5000 meter invitational.
