AUSTIN, Texas - The No. 14 UNLV men's golf team shot a final-round 12-over-par 296 on Tuesday at the Morris Williams Intercollegiate and finished in third place at the event, which was played at The University of Texas Golf Club (par 71, 7,412 yards).
UNLV finished eight shots behind host and team champion Texas, which finished at 16-over 868 for the tournament after shooting the tournament's low final round of 3-over 287. Oklahoma State finished second at 22-over, followed by UNLV at 24-over. Auburn was fourth at 31-over, while Texas Tech and UCF both tied for fifth at 33-over.
Texas' Bobby Hudson shot a final-round 6-under 65 and won the individual title by a shot at 5-under 208. Hudson's teammate Charlie Holland, who led the field after two rounds, finished second at 1-under 212 after a final-round even-par 71. UNLV senior Matt Kinsinger led the Rebels and finished third at 1-over 214 after shooting a final-round 1-over 72. UNLV junior Seung-Su Han finished in a four-way tie for fourth place at 3-over 216. Han shot a final-round 3-over 74.
Other Rebel players final-round scores, totals and places: sophomore Eddie Olson (77, 11-over 224, T29th), sophomore Brett Kanda (77, 13-over 226, T34th) and senior C.J. Gatto (73, 16-over 229, T45th).
UNLV finished in the top five for the eighth straight tournament and will be back in action April 24-26 at the MWC Championships, which will be held in Tucson, Ariz.
