NCAA West Regional Next For Rebels

LAS VEGAS - UNLV track and field will have two individuals and its 4x100 meter relay team competing at the NCAA West Regional, held at the Matador Track and Field Complex and hosted by Cal State Northridge.

The meet gets underway Friday with preliminaries and will conclude Saturday with finals, and the top five finishers in each individual event and the top three finishers in the relays will automatically qualify for the 2008 NCAA Championships.

Lekeisha Lawson will be running in the 100 meters, Brittney Bullocks is entered in the 400 meters, and both will run legs on the 400-meter relay team, which also consists of Tanesha Carr and Lauren Johnson.

Lawson has the 10th-fastest time of the 14 runners in the field with a time of 11.65, and she is slated to run her preliminary race Friday at 3:50 p.m. (PDT). Bullocks enters the meet with the eighth-quickest time of the field of 15, as she has clocked a time of 53.85 in the event. The 400-meter preliminary race is schedule to be run at 4:30 p.m.

The 400-meter relay team brings a time of 45.26 to the meet, which is the sixth-best time in a field of eight relay teams. Since there is only eight teams in the field, their will be no preliminary race and the finals will be run at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, marking the first final race of the day.
