UNLV Sports Information Earns National Notices

June 18, 2008

LAS VEGAS - A trio of media guides produced this past school year by UNLV athletics received national honors, which were recently announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Judged by select members of the media and professionals from the printing industry, all three publications finished among the top 10 in the nation.

The 2007-08 UNLV men's golf guide, created by media relations director Andy Grossman, took first in the nation. While the publication perennially ranks in the top 10, this marked the first time in history that it came in first place.

UNLV also received a CoSIDA Best in Nation designation for the cover design of the 2007 Rebel men's soccer guide, created by assistant SID Mark Wasik and graphic arts coordinator Paul Palmer. The publication, co-written by Wasik and Jamie Chagnon, was also voted third in the country overall. The 2007 UNLV football guide, produced by associate director for sports information Mark Wallington, assistant SID Bryan Haines and Palmer, came in ninth in the nation. It marked the fourth time in six years that the Rebel football publication landed in the nation's top 10.

Another member of the UNLV media relations staff received a recent honor from the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA). Jeff Seals was named winner of the Grant Burger Media Award as the west region's SID of the year.
