Rebels Place Seven On Academic All-MWC Team

LAS VEGAS - UNLV women's track and field had seven student-athletes on the 2008 Spring Academic All-MWC team, including three-time selection Olivia Raya, the league announced today.

Raya was not the only track and field student-athlete who as earned the honor multiple times, as Laura Lundin earned the award for a second consecutive year. Ashley Barlow, LaShante Ellison, Kristen Johnson, Bailey Kuestermeyer and Ashley Silva were all first-time recipients of the award.

To be eligible for selection to the Academic All-MWC team, student-athletes must have completed at least one academic term at the school while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better, and be a starter or significant contributor on their team.

The MWC Scholar-Athlete Award is the highest academic honor bestowed by the Conference. To be eligible for selection, student-athletes must have completed at least two academic terms at the member institution, while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better, and have participated in varsity competition in an NCAA-sponsored sport.
