Rebels Set Record In Classroom

June 19, 2008

LAS VEGAS - The UNLV men's tennis team set a program record with seven players earning a spot on the 2008 Academic All-Mountain West Conference Team, which was released Thursday.

The Rebels' impressive total, which included all but one player on the entire roster, also easily topped the league as Air Force ranked second with five honorees. One of UNLV's contingent made his fourth career appearance on the academic list as senior David Campbell, who held a 3.29 cumulative grade point average, achieved the rare feat.

Juniors Elliot Wronski and Wesley Burrows both became three-time honorees while sophomore Luca Barlocchi made his second appearance. The group was rounded out by sophomore Matthew Kunkel and freshmen Bryan Miller and Andrew Giuffrida.

To be eligible for selection, a student-athlete must have completed at least one academic term at the member institution, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better and be a starter or significant contributor.
