LAS VEGAS - UNLV women's cross country team is headed for its second meet of the year as the Rebels travel to the Aztec Invitational which takes place Saturday morning.
The Rebels will run against 18 other teams, including fellow Mountain West Conference members Air Force and host San Diego State. The meet will begin at 9:00 a.m. (PT) at Balboa Park in San Diego, Calif.
UNLV is sending seniors Jenni Shearer and Isabelle Stoate, sophomore Ashley Silva, and freshmen Erin Murphy, Amber Throop and Brett Zorich. Shearer and Silva competed in the meet last year, while Stoate and the three freshmen are making their first trip to the SDSU meet.
"The Aztec Invite is a great meet that we go to every year and will be our first look at how we stack up against a couple of conference teams," said head coach Tony Houchin. "I am excited to see how the team reacts to the large and very competitive field."
The Rebels have competed in the UCSD Quad meet so far this season and took an impressive third place to open up the season. Shearer finished second individually with a time of 15:39.6 and the Rebels had three runners finish in the top 10 overall.
