LAS VEGAS - UNLV freshman Zsusanna Jakabos was named Mountain West Conference Women's Swimmer of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday. Jakabos won the first weekly honor of her career, and is the first swimmer from the UNLV women's team to be honored this year.
Kakabos, a native of Pecs, Hungary, won three individual events in her very first collegiate meet to help the Rebels post a 166-134 win over TCU on Jan. 6. She won the 200 fly in a time of 2:02.96, the 100-yard back in 2:02.40, and the 400-yard IM in 4:21.22. Her 400 IM time ranks as third fastest in school history. Jakabos also swam on UNLV's first place 200 medley relay that finished in 1:45.77.
The Rebels will swim two meets on the road this weekend, taking on Air Force in Colorado Springs, Colo., on Friday, and Wyoming at 10 am on Saturday in Laramie.
