The UNLV men's and women's swimming and diving teams will be participating in a pair of invitational this weekend, as the swimmers will be at the Cougar Classic Fall Invitational in Houston, while the divers are off to Arizona Diving Invite in Tempe, with both events running from Friday-Sunday.
The Rebel men, 3-1 on the season, made their way into the national rankings this week, as they are 24th in this week's CSCAA Top 25 poll, the first poll of the season. UNLV is led by junior distance swimmer Kier Maitland, who ranks third in the nation in the 1000 free (9:07.36), while he is also 25th in the 500 free. UNLV's women have been paced this year by seniors Marva Harpka and Ana Dangalakova and freshman Brittany Ozar.
Teams scheduled to appear at the Cougar Classic, which is being held at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center Natatorium on the Houston campus, are Kansas, SMU, LSU, Incarnate Word, Tulane, Air Force, Houston and Texas A&M.
