LAS VEGAS - The 49th-ranked UNLV women's tennis team did not lose a set in winning two matches on Friday, the second of which was 7-0 over Utah State on a beautiful afternoon at the Fertitta Tennis Complex. The Lady Rebels also won a morning match over Illinois State by the same score.
With the sweep, UNLV improved to 5-2 on the season while the USU fell to 1-5.
The hosts earned the doubles point by winning on all three courts. Kristina Nedeltcheva and Katy Williams won 8-3 at the top spot, Alisa Razina and Anna Maskaljun won 8-3 at No. 2 and Rumyana Terzieva and Adrienn Hidvegi teamed up for an 8-2 victory on court three.
In singles play, Nedeltcheva, ranked 117th, swept Hailey Swenson at the top position, 7-6, 6-1. Also winning in straight sets was Dimitrova at No. 2, Williams at No. 3, Maskaljun at No. 4, Hidvegi at No. 5 and Razina on court six.
Next up, UNLV hosts UC Riverside on Sunday beginning with doubles at 10 a.m. Admission is free of charge.
