Mt. SAC RELAYS Results
Long Beach Invitational Results
WALNUT, Calif. -
It was a very productive weekend for UNLV women's track and field team, which split its squad and sent athletes to the Mt. SAC Relays and the Long Beach Invitational, as a school record was broken and a regional-qualifying time was clocked.
Rebel senior Olivia Raya set the school record in the weight throw with a mark of 174-8.00 at the Mt. SAC Relays, besting the previous record by more than a foot. Monique Humphries set the old Rebel record last year with a toss of 173-7.00.
"We had some good performances this weekend and to be able to set a school record is great," UNLV head coach Yvonne Scott-Williams said. "This was a great meet and the athletes were able to line up and run with the best."
Lekeisha Lawson continued her strong senior season by running a regional-qualifying time of 11.75 in the 100 meter prelims, and then bettered that time with an 11.72 in the finals, which earned her a sixth-place finish. Shahnel Woodley turned in a time of 11.82 in the 100 meters and then turned in a time of 11.90 in the finals to finish seventh.
Candise Maxwell posted a season-best time of 13.68 in the 100-meter hurdles while the 4x100 meter relay team performed well against some of the best squads in the country. The squad ran a time of 45.77 in the prelims and then finishing third in its invitational heat with a time of 45.86.
At the Long Beach Invitational on Saturday, junior De'Lace Kelly ran a season-best time of 56.66 in the 400 meters, finishing sixth overall. Also posting top-10 finishes were Rachael Long, who came in ninth in the 100-meter hurdles (14.29) and Bailey Kuestermeyer, who finished ninth in the 5,000 meters (18:25.15).
