Rebels Head Back To California

April 3, 2009

LAS VEGAS - The UNLV women's track and field team is heading to the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational in Claremont, Calif. for a meet on Saturday.

The entire Rebel squad will be making the trip to southern California for the weekend's competition, which will be held at the Strehle Track beginning with women's pole vaulting at 9:00 a.m. (PT), followed by the women's 100 meter hurdles at 10:30 a.m.

"We always enjoy competing at Pomona because it is a low key meet for us and we use it as training," said head coach Yvonne Scott-Williams. "We are still early in our season and we want to work through this competition by putting athletes in odd events so we can break up the normal routine."

UNLV will face off against schools such as Pepperdine, UC Riverside, UC Irvine, Southern Utah and Mountain West Conference opponent San Diego State. This is the 11th consecutive year for the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational.
