Irvine, Calif. - The Steve Scott Invitational proved to be good to the UNLV women's track and field team Saturday and Sunday as the Rebels posted 12 top-10 finishes throughout the weekend.
Shahnel Woodley put together two strong performances in her events as she ran an 11.88 in the 100 meter dash to place third. Woodley also ran in the 200 meter dash placing fourth with a time of 24.30.
Lekeisha Lawson who ran in the 200 meter dash finished with a time of 24.70 placing tenth. Candise Maxwell ran in the 100 meter dash and the 100 meter hurdles for UNLV. Maxwell placed seventh in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.14 and then in the hurdles was able to take fifth at 13.90.
Rachel Long also participated in the 100 meter hurdles running with a time of 14.45 placing tenth. Christine Lowe ran for UNLV in the 400 meter hurdles taking second place with a time of 1:01.51.
Long distance runner Isabelle Stoate ran the 800 meter run in 2:17.06 for a 15th place finish. Stoate then ran in the 1,500 meter run for 11th place with a time of 4:43.01. Jennifer Shearer represented the Rebels in the 5,000 meter run taking seventh place with a time of 17:51.06.
The UNLV relay team in the 4x100 meter relay ran to a second place finish clocking in at 45.52. In the 4x400 meter relay the Rebels took third with a time of 3:52.71.
On the field Deja Edwards participated in the long jump event taking seventh place with a distance of 5.72m.
Next up the Rebels will get ready for the Mountain West Conference Championships that will take place on May 15-16 in Laramie, Wyo.
