LAS VEGAS - The UNLV men's tennis team opened its 2010 schedule Friday by hosting the first day of action at the spring invitational at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
The individual tournament includes players from Alabama, Louisville, Indiana and the host Rebels.
On Friday, UNLV earned a ranked singles victory as Mehdi Bouras upset No. 119 Josh MacTaggart of Indiana 6-4, 6-4. The Rebels also picked up a win from Charlie Alvarado in his collegiate debut as he downed Hoosier Will Kendall 7-6, 4-6, 6-3.
The Rebels' lone doubles victory came when Attila Toth and Matthew Kunkel upended IU's Stephen Vogl and Will Kendall 8-2.
Day two action begins at 10 a.m. Saturday and is free to the public.
