LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - Host UNLV saw five singles players remain alive after two rounds on the first day of action at the 2010 USTA/Intercollegiate Tennis Association Mountain Region Championships at the Fertitta Tennis Complex on Wednesday.

The Lady Rebels went 7-2 overall and moving into Thursday's Round of 32 were Anna Maskaljun, Jana Albers, Lucia Batta, Nives Pavlovic and Aleksandra Josifoska.

Doubles play also gets underway with two rounds scheduled for Thursday.

This 114-player event is one of 24 USTA/ITA Regional Championships for NCAA Division I men and women taking place over these last two weekends of October at campuses throughout the country. The singles and doubles champions from the regionals will advance to the 2010 USTA/ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships, taking place November 4-7, at the new indoor facilities at the USTA-Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y.
