Rebels Ready For Regional

Oct. 19, 2010

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV men's tennis will be back in action this week when eight Rebel singles players and four doubles teams take part in the 2010 USTA/Intercollegiate Tennis Association Mountain Region Championships, which are being held across town at the Amanda & Stacy Darling Tennis Center.

The tournament runs from Wednesday through Sunday. Tomorrow gets under way with doubles play at 9 a.m. PT, followed by two rounds of singles. There will be consolation draws in singles and doubles to ensure each entrant at least two matches.

Rebel junior Mehdi Bouras, ranked 103rd nationally, is among the favorites to win the singles title as he is the region's top seed.

This will be one of 24 USTA/ITA Regional Championships for NCAA Division I men and women taking place over these last two weekends of October at campuses throughout the country. The singles and doubles champions from the regionals will advance to the 2010 USTA/ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships, taking place November 4-7, at the new indoor facilities at the USTA-Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y.
