LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - Top-seeded Mehdi Bouras of UNLV won his lone match Friday to become the only Rebel to advance at the rain-slowed 2010 USTA/ITA Mountain Region Championships, which are being held at the Amanda & Stacy Darling Memorial Tennis Center.
Bouras, ranked 103rd nationally, swept Alex Joitoiu of Idaho 6-2, 7-5. He will next face Denver's Jens Vorkefeld in Saturday's Round of 16, which begins at 9 a.m., weather permitting.
UNLV's other two remaining main draw entries both lost in straight sets on Friday. New Mexico's Ben Dunbar downed Kyle Lynch 6-0, 6-2 while fellow-Lobo Jadon Phillips swept Johannes Markel 6-1, 6-3.
