New 'Best Seats In The House' Program

Nov. 16, 2010

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV Athletics has announced a new "Best Seats in the House" ticketing program for the 2010-11 men's basketball season.

The program allows fans the opportunity to buy the best single game tickets still available to Runnin' Rebel games at a price reflecting season ticket scholarship levels. The program includes approximately 200 Thomas & Mack Center lower level seats in all double-letter seating (the bottom nine rows of the lower level) as well as the remaining seats in three sideline sections on both sides of the court (sections 105,106, 107, 116, 117 & 118). The areas in the program represent the top season ticket scholarship donation sections of the arena.

"This program accomplishes two things," said Jim Livengood, UNLV's Director of Athletics. "Quite frankly, it better protects the value of our scholarship season tickets and that is a primary concern. Many UNLV supporters are paying top dollar for season tickets in these areas and we want to protect their investment. They are supporting our student-athletes.

"Also, we've been able to give fans who do not have season tickets the opportunity to secure a great experience in one of the best seats in the house if they so choose. In the past, a lot of that has been based on timing and luck. Now, fans have an option."

Available "Best Seats in the House" single game tickets will be offered for $103 (in the double-letter areas) and $87 for the sideline seats involved in the program. For more information on the "Best Seats in the House" program, call (702) 739-FANS (3267) or visit the Thomas & Mack Center ticket office.

The program impacts less than three percent of the tickets available for fans to purchase for individual Runnin' Rebel games. A large majority (almost 80 percent) of lower level seats still available for single game purchase are available between $30-38, depending upon the game.

Historically, all of the seats in the lower level were offered at one rate for single games, regardless of location. However, many of the seat options were determined by timing and when tickets were released to the public, meaning fans did not always have the option to buy the "Best Seats in the House."

"At this time in our economy, we are very aware of any concern that someone is raising prices just for the sake of raising prices," Livengood said. "That just isn't the case with this. We are simply better protecting the value of our premium season tickets while at the same time offering an experience opportunity to those fans who are interested."

UNLV basketball is considered one of the best entertainment values in Las Vegas. Three seasons ago, UNLV basketball introduced a $90 season ticket package and lowered the starting price of single game tickets. Season ticket packages and Rebel Athletic Fund scholarship donation levels have also remained the same for the past three seasons.

Tickets to most Runnin' Rebel games start between $10-12. Season tickets will be offered through the end of this week with mini-plans also being available starting next week.
