Final Stats
DALLAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The final round of the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate was cancelled Tuesday because of persistent heavy rains and lightning in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. The first two rounds were played on Monday at Royal Oaks Country Club (par 71, 7,068 yards).
UNLV finished eighth overall at the 12-team tournament with a final tally of 4-over-par 572 through 36 holes. Iowa claimed the team tournament title, shooting 17-under 551 to finish five strokes ahead of second-place Texas A&M (12-under 556). Arkansas finished third at 4-under, while Penn State and SMU tied for fourth at 3-under.
Iowa's Vince India earned individual medalist honors, finishing the tournament at 10-under (66-66=132). Texas A&M's Conrad Shindler finished second at 8-under 134, followed by teammate Jordan Russell in third at 7-under 135. Texas Tech's Matt Smith, SMU's Kelly Kraft and Texas A&M's Case Cothran finished in a three-way tie for fourth place at 6-under 136.
UNLV junior Derek Ernst led all Rebel players with a tie for 11th place at 3-under 139 (66-73). Other Rebel: freshman Blake Biddle tied for 29th at 2-over 144 (72-72), senior Jeremiah Wooding tied for 41st at 5-over 147 (72-75), junior Colby Smith tied for 52nd at 7-over 149 (70-79) and freshman Karsten Majors tied for 56th at 8-over 150 (78-72).
With the conclusion of UNLV's fall schedule, the Rebels will not return to action until Jan. 31 at the Arizona Intercollegiate in Tucson, Ariz.
