LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's basketball team wrapped up the exhibition portion of its schedule tonight with a convincing 88-53 win over visiting Washburn University at the Thomas and Mack Center Tuesday night.

The Runnin' Rebels won their 14th straight exhibition game and improved to 5-0 all-time against the Ichabods in preseason action. Three UNLV players reached double figures, led by Chace Stanback's 23 points. Carlos Lopez added 17 and grabbed five rebounds while Anthony Marshall chipped in with 11.

UNLV grabbed a 20-point lead just over a minute into the second half following a Stanback free throw at 18:57. It would be all Runnin' Rebels from there, powered behind Stanback's amazing 23-point performance.

The junior Los Angeles native led all scorers on the night despite only playing 13 minutes, all of which came in the second half. Stanback was 9-for-10 from the field, including 4-for-5 from outside the arc. He also blocked two shots and added an assist and a steal on the night.

The Rebels shot 51.7 percent (30-of-58) from the field and hit 21-of-27 free throws for the game while Washburn connected on less than 35 percent of its attempts and was just 3-for-22 from behind the arc.

The win was UNLV's largest in exhibition play in the last 20 years, surpassing the 34-point win over Grand Canyon just seven days ago.

Marshall's layup just over two minutes into the game capped a 6-0 UNLV run to start the night. Washburn would answer however, putting together a 7-2 run of their own behind Virgil Philistin's 3-pointer and a layup from Logan Stutz, pulling within one at 8-7.

Justin Hawkins broke the Ichabod run after his drive through the lane resulted in an old-fashioned three-point play. Oscar Bellfield connected from beyond the arc on the next UNLV possession, increasing the lead to eight at 15-7.

A pair of free throws from Karam Mashour gave the Rebels their largest lead of the half at 10 with just over 10 minutes remaining. Marshall dropped a 3-pointer and added a breakaway dunk minutes later, pushing the lead to 15 at 28-13.

Derrick Jasper knocked down the third 3-pointer of the half for UNLV while Lopez's steal led to a fast-break layup and free throw, bringing the score to 38-19 where it would remain until the end of the half.

The Runnin' Rebels shot just over 45 percent from the floor (14-for-31) while Washburn managed to hit on just 9-of-28 field goal attempts, including just 1-for-9 from downtown in the first half. All but one UNLV player that saw action in the first half scored, led by Marshall's nine first-half points.

UNLV will open the regular season at home this Friday, Nov. 12 against UC Riverside. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. at the Thomas and Mack Center. The UNLV women's basketball team will also be in action Friday night with a 5 p.m. contest against Southern Utah. Fans can purchase one ticket for both games.
