Men's Basketball

Up Four Spots

Dec. 6, 2010

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's basketball team moved up four spots in both the USA Today/ESPN Coaches' and the Associated Press polls on Monday following the Runnin' Rebels' 2-0 week on the road.

UNLV won both its road games last week - an 82-51 win at Illinois State on Wednesday, and an 82-70 win at intrastate rival Nevada, Reno on Saturday. The Runnin' Rebels raced out to a 22-2 lead in the game against the Wolf Pack.

UNLV is 8-0 on the season, which marks its best start in 20 years - the Runnin' Rebels went 34-0 before losing in the Final Four during the 1990-91 season. This week the team is ranked No. 19 in the coaches' and No. 20 in AP.

Fellow Mountain West Conference members San Diego State and BYU are also in the rankings for the second straight week. SDSU is No. 14 in AP and No. 15 in coaches', while BYU is No. 18 in AP and No. 21 in coaches'. Last week marked the second time in league history that three teams were ranked during the same week and also was the earliest in a season the conference had three teams in the polls at the same time.

The Runnin' Rebels are scheduled to play two games this week. The first will be on Wednesday, Dec. 8, at 7 p.m. against Boise State at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, then the team will travel to Louisville, Ky., to play No. 24 (AP) Louisville on Saturday, Dec. 11 at 9 a.m. PST (TV: ESPNU).

Less than 200 tickets remain available for Wednesday's game against the Broncos. Tickets may be purchased by calling 702-284-7777 or visiting OrleansArena.com.
