UNLV Harriers Earn Academic Honors

Feb. 11, 2010

LAS VEGAS - UNLV cross country placed six student-athletes, including two repeat selections, on the Academic All-Mountain West Conference team, the league announced today.

The Rebels on the list included Bailey Kuestermeyer, Lauren Petersen, Shannon Simpson, Samantha Swan, Amber Throop and Amaris Williams. This is the second consecutive year that Kuestermeyer and Throop earned the accolades, and Kuestermeyer is currently in graduate school and had a 4.00 GPA.

It is the second time in the past three years that six Rebels have earned a spot on the team, and it is one short of UNLV's league-best seven selections in 2004.

To be eligible for selection, student-athletes must have completed at least one academic term at the member institution while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better, and be a starter or significant contributor on their athletic team.
