FRESNO, Calif. - The UNLV men's tennis team lost 6-1 to 27th-ranked Fresno State on Sunday at the Wathen Tennis Center.
The Rebels dropped their fifth straight to fall to 5-6 overall while the Bulldogs improved to 8-5 and a tidy 6-0 at home this season.
The hosts jumped out to a 1-0 lead by sweeping three doubles matches and then won a trio of straight-set matches in singles to clinch the overall victory.
UNLV's top player, Mehdi Bouras, ranked 108th nationally in singles, had his chances but fell 6-3, 7-6 to Mirko Zapletal at the top of the lineup.
The Rebels' lone point was impressive, however, as Attila Toth picked up a ranked win, 6-3, 6-3, over No. 112 Tejesvi Veerepalli on court four.
UNLV, which has played three consecutive road dates, returns to the courts on March 5 when it hosts Hawaii beginning at 10 a.m. Admission is free of charge.
