LAS VEGAS - The 56th-ranked UNLV men's tennis team improved its home record to 9-3 this season with a 6-1 victory over Weber State on Friday at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
The Rebels, who also defeated Ball State by the same score earlier in the day, improved to 9-6 overall while the Wildcats fell to 5-10.
The afternoon started with the hosts taking two of three doubles matches for one team point. Mehdi Bouras and Luca Barlocchi won 8-4 at the top position while Johannes Markel and Bernard Schoeman prevailed 8-5 on court two.
In singles, Bouras won a battle over Simon Unger at the top of the lineup, 5-7, 7-6, 1-0 (10-6); Barlocchi won 6-4, 6-2 at No. 2; Markel won 7-6, 6-2 at No. 3; Schoeman won 6-3, 6-4 at No. 5 and Charlie Alvarado breezed on court six 6-3, 6-1.
