COLUMBUS, Ohio -

Thanks to the first top-eight finish by a relay in school history on Saturday night, No. 24 UNLV moved up to 20th in the team standings with one day left at the 2010 NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships. This year's championship meet is being hosted by Ohio State in the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion.

David Seiler, Andrew Morrell, Cody Roberts and Steven Nelms teamed up to post a time of 1:26.25 to place eighth in the night's first event, the 200 yard medley relay. All four swimmers earned relay All-America honors thanks to their performance, the highest ever by a Rebel relay. The previous best finish was a ninth-place swim by the 200 yard free relay in the 2006 NCAA Championships. UNLV's time in the morning preliminaries of 1:25.75 was a new MWC record, breaking the previous time UNLV set at last month's Mountain West Conference Championship meet

Roberts also became the first Rebel to score in an individual event since 2002, as he earned Honorable Mention All-American honors after placing 15th in the 100 yard fly in a time of 47.17. He also set a new MWC record in the morning preliminaries with a swim of 46.59. Combined with the relay swim, that gave UNLV 24 points on the night, and moved them up to 20th place with 30 points, which is the most ever scored by UNLV at the NCAA Championships. California leads the overall team standings with 348.5 points, while Texas is second with 330.

Seiler and Nelms both swam in the 100 fly in the morning preliminaries, with Seiler placing 21st in a time of 47.08, while Nelms finished 28th in 47.47. Morrell also competed in the 100 breast, placing 31st in 54.24.
