SAN DIEGO, Calif. - - The UNLV women's track and field team turned in a strong performance at the Triton Invitational, including winning a trio of events at the meet which was held at the Triton Track and Field Stadium on the campus of UC San Diego.

Chauncey David-Jacobs ran a personal-best time of 54.23 to win the 400 meters, Deja Edwards won the long jump with a distance of 19-6.25 and the Rebel 4x100 meter relay team took home top honors with a time of 46.14. Those were the main highlights over the two-day meet that also featured several top-10 marks by head coach Yvonne Scott's squad.

"A lot of good marks came out of this meet for us and will allow us to work our way up in conference and regional rankings," Scott said. "The team is looking stronger and stronger as we approach the championships. We will just need to continue working hard and compete even harder."

Rebel freshman Kelsey Williamson was right behind in the 400 meters, finishing second with a time of 55.34, Candise Maxwell ran a 14.28 to finish third in the 100-meter hurdles and Christine Lowe also finished third, running a time of 1:03.44 in the 400-meter hurdles. In the 100 meters, Emily Block ran a season-best time of 12.03 to finish fifth, Maxwell was sixth with a 12.13 and Davina Collins was ninth with a 12.22.

Also on the track, Brett Zorich finished eighth in the 800 meters with a time of 2:14.72, Blok turned in a time of 24.61 and Williamson a 25.10 in the 200 meters, and Lauren Petersen ran an 18:14.37 in the 5,000 meters.

Away from the track, Collins leaped 19-1.50 in the long jump to finish fourth and sophomore thrower Amanda Bingson threw the hammer 190-0.00 to finish fifth in her signature event. It marked the second consecutive weekend that she reached the 190-foot mark, as she set the school record with a throw of 193-1.00 last weekend at the Mt. SAC Relays.
