LAS VEGAS - UNLV women's track and field will have five individuals and a pair of relay teams competing in the NCAA West Preliminary Round in Austin, Texas, beginning Thursday at Mike A. Myers Stadium.
First up for the Rebels will be Chauncey David-Jacobs, who will be competing in the 400 meters, the first of two individual events for the senior, who will also run in the 200 meters later in the week.
Another senior, Candise Maxwell, will run in the 100-meter hurdles on Friday, while junior Sarah Muniz will be competing in the 3,000-meter steeplechase as well. Saturday afternoon Bailey Kuestermeyer joins the fray in the 10,000 meters while Amanda Bingson will look to advance to the NCAA Championships in the hammer throw. Bingson currently ranks second in the region with a distance of 210-2.00, which is the UNLV school record.
Also hitting the track on Saturday will be the Rebels' 4x100 and 4x400 meter relay teams.
The top 12 individuals from each event as well as the top 12 relays advance to the NCAA Championships, to be held June 9-12 at Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon.
