LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV's men's tennis team earned Intercollegiate Tennis Association Academic All-America status for the seventh consecutive season as well as boasting a league-leading four individual honorees, the ITA announced.
The ITA team award is open to any program that has a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or above.
In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must be a varsity letterwinner, have a GPA of at least 3.50 for the current academic year and have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters.
Individually honored for head coach Owen Hambrook's squad were senior Luca Barlocchi, sophomore Mehdi Bouras, and freshmen Johannes Markel and Bernard Schoeman.
It marked the ninth consecutive season that at least two UNLV men earned ITA Scholar-Athlete honors.
UNLV was the only school in the Mountain West Conference to see both its men's and women's teams earn the ITA honor in 2010.
