LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's basketball program has announced the first "Runnin' Rebel University: a crash course in Rebel basketball for women," which will take place on Saturday, Sept. 18.
Barb Kruger will host the "no boys allowed" event, which will begin at 10 a.m. at the Thomas & Mack Center. It will focus on giving women an inside look into the Runnin' Rebel program and offer opportunities to participate in several fun-filled sessions taught by head coach Lon Kruger, who is also Barb's husband, along with the rest of the coaching staff and some Rebel players.
Participants will learn the X's and O's of the game, will go through a uniform and equipment demonstration, be able to meet the players and coaches, and will also have the opportunity to hear from the coaches' wives in a question and answer panel session.
"We are excited to host an event where women can learn more about the UNLV men's basketball program," said Barb Kruger. "It will be a relaxed day where they will learn directly from the coaching staff on the basics of basketball and have some fun while doing so. We are encouraging the women to wear their Rebel athletic gear and get out onto the court to participate if they would like to."
The event will last until approximately 12 p.m., with a "post-game" lunch following. Participants are encouraged to wear Rebel athletic gear and athletic shoes - participation on the court is optional.
Cost is $30 for the event, which includes a t-shirt, goodie bag and lunch. For more information or to register, call the UNLV men's basketball office at 702-895-3295.
