LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The Rebels finished the weekend by taking one doubles match Sunday to close the UNLV Men's Tennis Fall Invitational at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
With players from Kentucky, Fresno State and Pepperdine in town, UNLV got its one win in doubles from Alex Bull and Kyle Lynch, who downed the Waves' Stuart Keplar and Daniel Moss 8-3.
Despite his team picking up just a handful of victories, UNLV head coach Owen Hambrook said the tournament will help down the road.
"It was a tough weekend for us going against players from three highly ranked teams and we definitely let some matches slip away," Hambrook said. "But it was just the first event of the season and we can take some real positives away from this."
Next up, UNLV's top player, Mehdi Bouras, will play in the main draw of the 2010 ITA Men's All-American in Tulsa, Okla., starting Oct. 7. The entire squad will next be in action starting Oct. 20 at the USTA ITA Mountain Region Championships being held at Las Vegas' Darling Tennis Center.
