Oct. 12, 2011

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - Below are some answers for fans about the upcoming Runnin' Rebel Weekend, which is being presented by RebelSwag.

Runnin' Rebel Experience at
Fremont Street Experience - Friday, Oct. 14
Festivities start at 6 p.m. - Show and Team Introduction at 7 p.m. - FREE

Why is UNLV holding this event at the Fremont Street Experience?

This is a celebration of what Runnin' Rebel Basketball means to Las Vegas. The Runnin' Rebels are the community's team. We wanted to do something special to celebrate that relationship with the fans as well as welcome home new head coach Dave Rice and meet his staff and the team.

What can we expect from the 7 p.m. show at the Fremont Street Experience on Friday (Oct. 14)?

The use of the Viva Vision screen on the Fremont Street Experience canopy is a major part of the show on Friday night, as well as the music. The show is scheduled to feature current fan favorite Runnin' Rebel videos. We will also debut a couple of new videos for fans as well that evening.

Is there a live part of the show?

Runnin' Rebel players, coaches, band, Hey Reb, Rebel Girls and cheerleaders will join emcee Chet Buchanan as part of the show at the Third Street Stage. It will be a fast-paced show for fans of all ages that love Runnin' Rebel basketball. Don't be late to the 7 p.m. event.

Will the players and coaches be introduced?

Yes. It will be a unique and fun experience for UNLV fans and the players.

Any special guests?

Legendary Runnin' Rebel coach Jerry Tarkanian is scheduled to be part of the event. And we think you'll like what we have scheduled to welcome Coach Tark that evening.

Besides the show, what other festivities are taking place?

After the show, the team will be signing autographs and meeting with fans. There will also be a fan favorite game at the Fremont Street Experience as fans will have the opportunity to make baskets on 20-, 25- and 30-foot high rims - in addition to other UNLV basketball-related activities. Kids will also have the chance to get photos taken with Hey Reb as well as meet the Lady Rebel basketball players. Of course, this is in addition to all the great things happening at the Fremont Street Experience, including its famous light show which will take place at 8 p.m.

What is the best way to get there and where do I park?

The Third Street Stage is just a few minute walk from the Fremont Street Experience parking garage (located at 425 Fremont Street with its entrance on Fourth Street, just past Carson). Score FREE parking by wearing Rebel gear. If you are wearing apparel with a UNLV logo on it, you will be able to validate your Fremont Street Experience parking ticket at the table near the UNLV marketing table Friday evening and receive FREE parking - courtesy of Fremont Street Experience...Parking is also available at hotel-casinos throughout Downtown.

Yes, you can get your Reb on. RebelSwag, the official sponsor of Runnin' Rebel Weekend, will be selling merchandise at the event - including special $10 tees. Ticketing representatives will also be available at the event for season ticket inquiries as well as representatives from our Rebel Athletic Fund.
