LAS VEGAS - The 68th-ranked UNLV men's tennis team was upset 5-2 by visiting Cal Poly on Sunday at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.

The Rebels fell to 5-3 on the season while the Mustangs improved to 5-1.

Cal Poly jumped out a 1-0 lead by dominating doubles play, winning all three matches.

UNLV, which was without its No. 3 player, lost three straight-setters in singles play to end it. The only Rebels to score were freshman Tamas Batyi, who downed Alexander Sonesson 6-2, 6-4 at the third spot; and Kasper Konyves, who used a super-tiebreaker to defeat Drew Jacobs on court six, 6-3, 5-7, 1-0 (10-5).

"Cal Poly outplayed us today and we have to do a lot better in our doubles," said UNLV head coach Owen Hambrook. "We will keep working hard and get ready for our next match."

UNLV is next in action on Thursday when it hosts Utah State beginning with doubles at 2 p.m. Admission to all matches is free of charge.
