Netters March Up The Rankings

March 1, 2011

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - Powered by a big upset win last weekend, the UNLV men's tennis team went from unranked to earning its best spot nationally in six years as the Campbell's ITA Rankings were released Tuesday.

The Rebels (10-5) moved all the way to No. 44 (college tennis team rankings go 75 deep), which is the highest for the program since standing 40th on March 29, 2005. UNLV upset No. 31 Fresno State on Friday and then downed No. 58 Arkansas on Sunday.

The team's top player, senior Mehdi Bouras (15-8), moved up 10 spots to No. 66 in the nation in singles and entered the doubles rankings for the first time in his career as he and partner Bernard Schoeman (12-6) showed up at No. 58.

The UNLV men are next in action on Friday when they play Nebraska in a neutral-site match in Denver.
