LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's basketball team (24-7, 11-5 MWC) defeated Air Force, 69-53, on Thursday night in the quarterfinals of the 2011 Conoco Mountain West Conference Men's Basketball Championship at the Thomas & Mack Center. It was the Runnin' Rebels' sixth straight win, seventh in their last eight games and 10th in their last 12. The Runnin' Rebels finished in third place in the league to earn the No. 3 seed in the tournament and will now face No. 2 seed San Diego State (ranked No. 7/6 in the nation) on Friday, March 11 at 8:30 p.m. in the tournament's semifinals. The game will be televised live on CBS College Sports in high definition with Ted Robinson and Steve Lappas calling the action. Jon Sandler and Robert Smith will handle the radio call, which may be heard live in Las Vegas on ESPN Radio 1100 AM/98.9 FM. The UNLV radio broadcast is also available at UNLVRebels.com through the subscription-based All-Access feature, while Gametracker is provided for free on the website. San Diego State swept the regular-season series against UNLV with a 55-49 win in San Diego on Jan. 12 and a 63-57 win in Las Vegas on Feb. 12. SDSU has won four straight games overall against UNLV, including last year in the MWC Tournament's championship game. Friday will mark the third straight year that UNLV and San Diego State will face each other in the MWC Tournament.
