ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (UNLVRebels.com) - The 48th-ranked UNLV men's tennis team lost to No. 18 Texas Tech for the second time this season, this time 7-0 in a neutral-site setting at the Estes Tennis Center in New Mexico Saturday.
The Rebels fell to 12-7.
UNLV lost the opening the doubles point despite picking up an upset win at the top of the lineup. That's where Mehdi Bouras and Bernard Schoeman, ranked 58th, upended No. 21 Raony Carvalho and Rafael Garcia 8-6.
Moving to singles play, Bouras, ranked 66th in the nation, fell to No. 20 Gonzalo Escobar as part of four TTU sweeps. The Red Raiders also took a pair of three-set super-tiebreakers to complete the shutout.
Next up, the Rebels will return to Mountain West Conference play on Sunday when they face New Mexico starting at noon.
