LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV's Mehdi Bouras has set a program record with a fifth Mountain West Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week award - the most ever by a Rebel in a single season, the league announced. Bouras also tied Elliot Wronski (2006-09) for career weekly honors with six.
Bouras, hailing from Paris, France, went a combined 5-1 last weekend, including 4-0 vs. conference opponents. His efforts helped him set career highs in the national rankings at 56 in singles and 36th in doubles with partner Bernard Schoeman.
Bouras and Schoeman's weekend of work included upsetting the 21st-ranked tandem of Raony Carvalho and Rafael Garen of Texas Tech on Saturday.
The UNLV men's team (12-8/1-1) returns to action on April 7 when it hosts BYU.
