LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The windy weather pushed the 48th-ranked UNLV women's tennis team back inside the Lobo Club's bubble on Sunday but the Lady Rebels still breezed past host New Mexico 6-1.

UNLV improved to 16-4 overall and 5-0 in the Mountain West Conference and sits in a first-place tie with both San Diego State and Utah.

The visitors began the afternoon by sweeping three doubles matches to forge a 1-0 lead. Nives Pavlovic and Aleksandra Josifoska doubled up Ashley Bonner and Anya Villanueva 8-4 at the top spot; Lucia Batta and Anna Maskaljun blanked Nikolina Grbac and Michaela Bezdickova 8-0 at No. 2; and Adrienn Hidvegi and Jana Albers downed Laura Richardson and Kristin Eggleston 8-1 on court three.

In singles play, UNLV got points from four straight-setters and one of two super-tiebreakers that were played. Josifoska swept Villanueva 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2; Pavlovic outlasted Grbac 6-4, 5-7, 1-0 (10-5) at No. 3; Hidvegi downed Richardson 6-2, 6-1 at No. 4; Albers defeated Eggleston 6-3, 6-3 at No. 5; and Maskaljun improved to a stunning 19-1 in dual matches as a senior with a 7-5, 6-2 victory over Michaela Oldani on court six. Maskaljun has won 16 straight matches overall and has not dropped even a set since winning a three-setter back on Feb. 20.

UNLV will close out its regular season with three big duals in San Diego next weekend, beginning with a showdown with the defending regular-season champion Utes on Friday.
