LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV Rebel track and field team returns to Southern California for a pair of meets this weekend. UNLV will have a portion of its roster participate in the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, while some others will go to the Beach Invitational in Cerritos.
The Rebels will have their throwers in action this weekend with Amanda Bingson, Chelsea Cassulo, LaShante Ellison and Danielle Rios participating in those events. Bingson will be the only one competing in the Invitational section on Saturday and is still currently ranked first in NCAA statistics for the hammer.
"Our goal this weekend is to compete hard against some great competition," said head coach Yvonne Scott. "Mt Sac Relays has a strong tradition of having some of the best athletes in the country at this meet. This is a perfect opportunity for us to better our times and prepare for the MWC in Fort Collins as well as improve our standings for NCAA preliminary qualification."
Emily Blok (100m and 200m), Davina Collins (100m), Secoral Yanez (100m and 200m), Kelsey Williamson (200m and 400m), Brett Zorich (800m), Christine Lowe (400m hurdles), Laura Affeld (400m hurdles), Erin Straughter (100m hurdles) will participate in the individual track events. Lindsay Roach will partner up with some of her teammates in both the 4x400m and 4x100m relays.
