Free CPR Classes Saturday

April 21, 2011

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - In cooperation with the American Red Cross' Southern Nevada Chapter, UNLV Athletics has created a community service partnership with the American Red Cross in providing the use of the Thomas & Mack Center for the purpose of education and certifying 1,000 people in CPR Training.

The "Super CPR Saturday" event will take place this Saturday, April 23. The public is invited to attend the free Adult CPR classes. Two sessions will be conducted; one beginning at 8:30 a.m. and then again at 1:30 p.m. Each session is scheduled for three hours and a two-year Adult CPR certification will be issued upon successful completion.

Registration is available at http://redcrosslasvegas.org/ or by calling 702-531-0237. Walk-ins will also be accepted, space permitting.

Other community partners in this event include KLAS 8 News Now, Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) of Southern Nevada, Nevada Recreation and Park Society (NRPS)-Southern Nevada Aquatic Committee, and Century Link.

Over 300,000 people each year die from sudden unexpected heart attacks and many of those deaths could be prevented by intervention by someone who knows CPR or has access to an automated external defibrillator (AED).
