Steve Scott Invitational Results 05-01-11
The UNLV track and field team got a strong showing from Emily Blok in four events Sunday afternoon on the second and final day of UC Irvine's Steve Scott Invitational held at Anteater Stadium. Blok helped the Rebels' 4x100m and 4x400m relay teams to first-place finishes, while she also placed individually in two other events. In all, UNLV had six overall top-eight finishes Sunday.
Blok was the only constant on the two relay squads that took first Sunday. She teamed up with Zadia Bryant, Davina Collins and Secoral Yanez in the 4x100m and finished with a winning time of 45.74. Lindsay Roach, Brett Zorich and Kelsey Williamson partnered with Blok in the 4x400m and won the race in 3:46.61.
Blok also ran in the 200m and 100m dashes and finished fourth (24.05) and fifth (11.92), respectively.
"The team really competed well this weekend," said head coach Yvonne Scott. "It was important to have these performances before the conference championships so that they can go in with confidence and with some fight."
Besides helping the 4x400m relay to a win, Williamson took first in the 800m run with a time of 2:08.50. Ali Bartosch finished seventh in the event just over three second behind her teammate in 2:11.84. Courtney Allen also ran a strong 800m in 2:16.03.
Ashley Henry finished eighth in the high jump with a leap of 5-7.00 (1.70m).
