The UNLV Rebels finished fifth overall at the 2011 Mountain West Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Fort Collins, Colo., Saturday afternoon. Emily Blok was instrumental in UNLV's finish Saturday, as she recorded two second-place showings as an individual and two top four in relays.
"Although we hoped to place higher as a team, we had a lot of great performances and the team showed a lot of fight," said head coach Yvonne Scott. "They are starting to really believe in themselves and that is half the battle. Next year we are on a mission."
Blok finished behind TCU's Jessica Young in both the 100m and 200m dashes and owned personal-best times of 11.58 and 23.83, respectively.
Blok was the final runner on UNLV's first-place 4x100m relay squad that finished the race in 45.09. Zadia Bryant, Davina Collins and Secoral Yanez rounded out the quartet that took first. She also ran the third leg of the 4x400m relay team that was fourth in the event with a time of 3:41.31, which was the season's best time. She was teamed up with Lindsay Roach, Brett Zorich and Kelsey Williamson.
Williamson finished fourth in the 400m race with a time of 54.65.
Rounding out UNLV's Saturday performance were Ali Bartosch in seventh in the 800m (2:11.66) and Christine Lowe in 5th in the 400m hurdles (62.03). Deja Edwards finished seventh in the long jump with a leap of 38-6.75 (11.75m).
