LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's tennis team claimed its highest year-end national ranking since 2005 as the final Campbell/ITA College Tennis Rankings were released.
At No. 60, the Rebels (14-11) finished four spots higher than last season and marked their highest final ranking since ending 57th in 2005.
Star senior Mehdi Bouras (22-12), the 2011 Mountain West Player of the Year and NCAA Singles Championship competitor, finished 67th in the national rankings and second in the region. It was the best final singles ranking for a Rebel since Elliot Wronski was 50th in 2007.
In doubles, Bouras and partner Bernard Schoeman (13-9) finished 45th nationally and first in the Mountain Region. The duo, which earned a bid to the NCAA Doubles Championship, claimed the best finish for a UNLV men's doubles team since Nenad Zivkovic and Gregor Skorin closed at No. 23 (after reaching as high as No. 1 in the nation) in 1999.
In the Mountain Region, UNLV finished the season ranked sixth as a team. Freshman Tamas Batyi (16-9) was the other Rebel representative, standing 14th in singles play.
