LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The host Rebels picked up seven singles victories and a pair of doubles wins during the first day of the UNLV Men's Tennis Fall Invitational on Friday at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.

With players from NAU, Portland and Fresno Pacific in town, UNLV got wins from Rene Ruegamer, who downed Robin Pezzutto of NAU 6-2, 6-4; Tamas Batyi, who defeated Shaun Waters of NAU 6-4, 6-1; Johannes Markel, who downed Robin Marton of NAU 6-1, 6-4; Alex Bull, who defeated Josh Levinson of NAU 6-1, 6-4; Brian Kenyon, who got by Ben Lantz of NAU 6-0, 6-4; Bernard Schoeman, who defeated Patrick Schimmelbauer of NAU 6-3, 7-5 and Willie Sublette, who downed NAU's Josh Brown 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.

Also, the Rebels got wins out of the duos of Schoeman and Markel and Bull and Kenyon.

"It was great to get back out there playing competitive tennis again," said head coach Owen Hambrook. "It was a good effort and we have two more days of quality tennis ahead of us this weekend."

Round two is scheduled for Saturday and the final round is Sunday.
