LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - Expected to be UNLV's top player, Tamas Batyi won the tournament singles title Sunday on the final day of the UNLV Men's Tennis Fall Invitational at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.

With players from NAU, Portland and Fresno Pacific in town, Batyi earned top honors after going 3-0 vs. vs. the top flight. On Sunday, the sophomore for Budapest, Hungary, downed Alex Ferrero of Portland 6-3, 7-6. Also winning for the hosts was Willie Sublette, Rene Ruegamer, Bernard Schoeman and Alex Bull.

In doubles, UNLV got wins from Johannes Markel and Schoeman as well as the nation's 43rd-ranked duo of Bull and Ruegamer.

"We had three days of good tennis against solid teams," said head coach Owen Hambrook. "We got a lot of work in, which will help us this season. Now we get some time off while preparing for the regionals."

UNLV is next in action when it takes part in the ITA Mountain Region Championships, which will be held at the Darling Tennis Center in Las Vegas on Oct. 19-23.
