LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - Players from a total of seven schools will be here this weekend to take part in the annual UNLV Women's Tennis Fall Invitational at the Fertitta Tennis Complex on campus Friday through Sunday. That event will kick off the Lady Rebels' 2011-12 schedule, which was released by the school on Wednesday.

Joining the Lady Rebels in the individual tournament will be competitors from Ole Miss, Utah, Long Beach State, New Mexico State, Northern Arizona and Florida Gulf Coast.

Featuring four flights of singles and four flights of doubles, all matches are free and open to the public. The host Lady Rebels will field seven singles players and three doubles teams.

The tournament is the first of three individual events for the UNLV women this fall before the defending Mountain West Champions tackle a full slate of dual matches beginning in January.

"We have a great schedule this year, as we play some of the top teams in all of college tennis," UNLV 13th-year head coach Kevin Cory said. "We will have a young but very talented team to take on these opponents this fall and in the spring."

The fall lineup includes for the second straight year time hosting the USTA ITA Mountain Regional at the Fertitta Tennis Complex from Oct. 12-16. The program also hosts the annual Freeman Memorial Invitational on Jan. 13-15, 2012. It is there that a collection of singles and doubles players from top programs Stanford, Florida, Duke, USC, UCLA, Arizona State, North Carolina and Oregon are scheduled to battle UNLV's contingent.

The dual-match campaign gets underway by hosting New Mexico State on January 20. After the opening weekend, the Lady Rebels, who finished last season ranked 38th, will travel to Berkeley, Calif., for the ITA Kickoff Weekend tournament. The fourth-year, 64-team event will have host sites around the nation and UNLV will be paired first with host California before taking on either Washington or San Diego the following day.

The non-conference dual-match schedule is highlighted by a visit from national powerhouse Stanford on March 28. Also visiting Fertitta this season will be nationally ranked programs such as Long Beach State (Feb. 25), VCU (March 15) and Tennessee (March 21).

The Lady Rebels will open league play with a match vs. Wyoming on March 24 in San Diego, followed by a contest vs. Colorado State the next day. New Mexico visits on March 31 before UNLV travels to Colorado Springs to face Air Force (April 7) and MW newcomer Boise State (April 8). The regular season ends on April 14 with a Senior Day matchup with rival San Diego State.

San Diego will be this year's site of the MW Championships from April 26-29. The NCAA regionals are scheduled for May 11-13 and the round of 16 and individual national tournaments will take place in Athens, Ga, from May 16-28.
