Harriers Host Meet In Boulder City

After taking a weekend off from competition, the UNLV cross country team returns to action this Saturday, Oct. 1, with its own Desert Invitational held at Veterans Memorial Park in Boulder City, Nev. The meet will consist of four races with a pair dedicated to high school and college/open racers. The Rebels will participate in the morning's third race, the college/open women 5K at 9:30 am.

Competing against UNLV in the college/open women 5K are Cal State Northridge, San Diego State, Utah, Dixie State, Vanguard and Nevada, Reno.

"The upcoming meet should be good for our program," said cross country coach Khadevis Robinson. "We will be competing against some really good teams. Plus, there will be teams for the men's side. In addition, open athletes are able to compete in the college races. This will be a good race for our girls to get a good competition in, while measuring where we are at and also giving us a measuring stick on where we will need to be for the conference championship. Kicking off the day's festivities is the high school girls 5K at 8:00 am followed by the boys 5K at 8:45 am.

"There should be a host of good, local high school team competing on Saturday."

The college/open men 8K is scheduled to start at 10:15 am and is slated to be the last of the day's four races.
