LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV track & field team opens up its indoor season this weekend with members of the squad participating in Northern Arizona's Mountain T's Invitational in Flagstaff, Ariz., and others competing in Seattle at the UW Invitational hosted by Washington. NAU's meet will take place at the J.L. Walkup Skydome, while UW's will be at the Dempsey Indoor facility.
"We are very excited about finally opening up our indoor season after many months of training," said head coach Yvonne Scott-Wade. "We are looking forward to some good opening marks and to get the momentum started for the rest of the track season."
The majority of the team will compete in Flagstaff, including Emily Blok (60m and 4x400m relay), Amanda Bingson (weight throw), Deja Edwards (long jump and triple jump), Ashley Henry (high jump) and Danielle Rios (weight throw). Newcomers Erin Morris (hurdles) and Myshauna Alexander (throws) will participate for the first time as Rebels after transferring to UNLV from Fresno State and El Camino College, respectively.
The contingent heading to Seattle will participate in the distance events, such as the mile, 400m, 800m, 3000m, 5000m, distance medley and 4x400m relay. The Rebels have four competing in the 800m run, while the remaining races only have one individual or relay team entered.

The Rebels are only entered in two events (5000m and distance medley) Friday in Seattle with the first starting in the evening at 6:30 pm.
