LOS ANGELES (UNLVRebels.com) - The 61st-ranked UNLV men's tennis team was blanked by top-ranked USC on Saturday at Marks Stadium in the opening round of the ITA Kickoff Weekend.
The Rebels fell to 0-2 while the two-time defending champion Trojans improved to 3-0 and have not surrendered a team point this season.
USC quickly earned the doubles point, taking two matches to clinch.
In singles, the only Rebel to earn more than two games in any set was Rene Ruegamer, who lost 6-2, 7-5, to 16th-ranked Daniel Nguyen at the top of the lineup.
Next up, UNLV will look to earn its first win of the young season by facing No. 42 South Florida on Sunday morning in the consolation round of the ITA Kickoff Weekend.
