Lady Rebel Duo Drops To Consolation Play

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. - Aleksandra Josifoska, ranked 89th in the nation, was two games away from upsetting the No. 37 player but ultimately was defeated in three sets Thursday at the 2012 Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships.

Playing at the Riviera Country Club, the junior won the first set and was ahead 4-2 in the second before falling to Maho Kowase of Georgia, 3-6, 6-4, 6-2.

Earlier in the day, the program's other representative in the main draw, 43rd-ranked Lucia Batta, lost in what was her first match of the tourney, 6-2, 6-2 to Florida's Danielle Collins.

Both players will get another shot during consolation play starting Friday.
