SAN DIEGO (UNLVRebels.com) - The 48th-ranked UNLV women's tennis team moved into the semifinals of the Mountain West Championship for the 11th consecutive season with a 4-0 victory over Colorado State on Thursday afternoon at the Aztec Tennis Center.

The second-seeded Lady Rebels improved to 16-8 overall while the seventh-seeded Rams ended their season 4-16. UNLV will get Friday off before facing third-seeded host San Diego State on Saturday beginning with doubles at 2 p.m. The Aztecs advanced with a 4-0 win over New Mexico.

On Thursday, UNLV won the doubles point to take a 1-0 lead. Aleksandra Josifoska and Manon de Lanlay were done first at the second spot, downing Natalie Heffron and Lauren Mulhern 8-2. The Lady Rebels clinched it when Lucia Batta and Nives Pavlovic finished off Kaley Schultz and Tori Arneson 8-4. The third match was then halted.

In singles, Batta moved to a stunning 21-2 in dual matches this spring with a 6-1, 6-0 sweep of Arneson at the top spot. The sophomore Lady Rebel, ranked 60th in the nation, is now 31-8 overall, which moved her into a tie for seventh place on the school's single-season wins list.

Junior Ella Bourchier soon made it 3-0 with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Adriana Wojakowska on court five. The match ended when freshman Anett Ferenczi-Bako swept Veronika Wojakowska 6-4, 6-0 at the bottom of the lineup.

With the winner decided, the other three matches were abandoned with UNLV leading in two of them.

"Today was a lot closer than the scored indicated," said head coach Kevin Cory. "CSU competed well. Now we have to prepare well ourselves for a big match Saturday against the host team."
